Kamala Harris & Fat Joe Discuss Future Of Cannabis At White House Event

Vice President Kamala Harris convened a roundtable discussion that brought together influential figures across politics, entertainment, and advocacy.

The gathering featured rapper Fat Joe, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, and individuals previously pardoned for marijuana-related offenses.

The meeting deliberated the Biden administration’s current efforts to tackle the federal classification of marijuana and broader the implications for justice and equality in the United States.

Highlighting the event was Vice President Harris’s vocal commitment to addressing the historical inequities perpetuated by past drug policies.

“I will say that I believe that the promise of America includes equal justice under the law and for too many our criminal justice system has failed to live up to that core principle,” Harris stated, drawing upon her experiences as a prosecutor and later as the DA of San Francisco.

During her tenure as DA, Harris initiated reentry programs that exemplified a forward-thinking approach to criminal justice. She says these aspects are being incorporated into current administration policies.

Vice President Kamala Harris underscored the disproportionate impact of marijuana possession arrests on Black Americans and Latinos, noting, “Nobody should have to go to jail for smoking weed, and what we need to do is recognize that far too many people have been sent to jail for simple marijuana possession.”

This statement aligns with President Biden’s announcements intended to rectify the federal classification of marijuana, which equates it with substances like heroin and marks it as more dangerous than fentanyl – a comparison Harris derided as “absurd, not to mention patently unfair.”

The administration’s directive towards the Department of Health and Human Services, along with the Department of Justice, to reassess marijuana’s classification reflects a crucial step towards substantive drug policy reform.

“We have directed…to reassess how marijuana is classified under the federal drug schedule,” Kamala Harris highlighted, stressing the urgency and necessity of this evaluation.

This roundtable represents a pivotal moment in the ongoing debate over marijuana reform, emphasizing the Biden administration’s commitment to combating the inequities of past drug policies and paving the way for a more just legal framework concerning cannabis.

With the involvement of voices like Fat Joe, the dialogue bridges the gap between policy-making and cultural influence, underlining the multifaceted approach needed to address the complexities of drug policy reform in America.

Chuck D Joins Fight For Healthcare Transparency Alongside Fat Joe

Chuck D, the indomitable force behind the legendary hip-hop group Public Enemy, has thrown his weight behind the growing movement to demand transparency within the U.S. healthcare system.

The campaign, which has seen vocal contributions from artists like Fat Joe, targets what they describe as an opaque and convoluted pricing structure that often leaves patients financially devastated and in the dark about the true costs of their medical care.
“What you have at the end of that rainbow is bankruptcy or broke or better yet, ‘I ain’t going to the hospital and I can’t pay that,’ Chuck D. said of the current state of healthcare.

With healthcare reform being a hotly debated issue in the lead-up to the Biden vs. Trump showdown, Chuck D’s entrance into the arena adds a significant voice to the chorus calling for change.

“Artist power is very important because it speaks magnitudes… where everybody is moved by what they see and hear,” Chuck D. said.

His critique focuses on the lack of clear, upfront information about the costs of medical services and procedures, which many argue contributes to the country’s spiraling healthcare expenses and places an undue burden on the average American.

Chuck D expressed his frustration stating that “the fight for healthcare price transparency is about ensuring that every American has the right to know what they’re walking into when they enter a hospital or doctor’s office. It’s about fairness, equity and basic human rights.”

By drawing attention to the issue, Chuck D hopes to inspire action on a legislative level, urging policymakers to institute reforms that would require healthcare providers to be upfront about pricing. The push for transparency isn’t just about reducing costs; it’s also about increasing accountability and trust within the healthcare system.

Advocates believe that by making pricing information readily available, patients can make more informed decisions about their care, potentially leading to better health outcomes and a more efficient system overall. Chuck D’s involvement in this issue underscores a growing trend of artists and celebrities leveraging their platforms for advocacy on critical social issues.

Fat Joe is explaining why he had to get his hands on Donald Trump‘s new Never Surrender sneakers.

Fat Joe Defends Purchase of Donald Trump Sneakers

On Tuesday (Feb. 27), Fat Joe hopped on social media and defended his purchase of The Donald’s new sneaker, despite not liking Trump.

“Why? If you really collect art, do you really know what Basquiat was into?” Fat Joe questioned in the video below. “Do you know what Andy Warhol was into? Any of these artists that you was into. You love the art, so you get it. I guess they separate art from the person.”

“Now, me as a sneaker collector,” he continued. “I had to get my hands on the Trumps. It doesn’t matter…Listen, I have thousands of pairs of sneakers. When everyone flipped on Kanye, I went and bought the two most exclusive Kanyes ever…I gotta get my hands on them. Once again, I’m not a Trumper. I dislike Trump. I’m not voting for him. Not now, not never. But I’m a sneaker collector into the art. So, I had to find these.”

Fat Joe Defends Owning Pair Of Donald Trump’s Gold Sneakers

Fat Joe faced backlash after he obtained a pair of Donald Trump’s “Never Surrender” sneakers. The Terror Squad leader tried to justify acquiring the Trump-branded shoes on Instagram Live.

“Me as a sneaker collector, I had to get my hands on the Trumps,” Fat Joe said. “Doesn’t matter … Listen, I have thousands and thousands and thousands [of] pairs of sneakers. When everybody flipped on Kanye, I went and bought the two most exclusive Kanyes ever.”

Fat Joe insisted he was not a Trump supporter despite owning the gold sneakers. The veteran rapper claimed he only wanted the shoes because they were a collector’s item.

“Once again, I’m not a Trumper,” he said. “I dislike Trump. I’m not voting for him. Not now, not never. But I’m a sneaker collector to the art, so I had to find these [shoes]. Now the mayor’s gonna call me. Everybody’s gonna call me and say, ‘You wilding out Joe’ … I’m a sneaker collector. I don’t know what none of these guys did. I collect sneakers. The rarer, the better.”

Fat Joe denied buying the sneakers. He hinted at receiving a free pair due to his well-known status as a sneaker collector.

“No, I didn’t pay for the sneakers,” he said. “Sorry, I didn’t pay for these sneakers. They knew I had to have them ‘cause I’m the biggest in the game.”

Trump launched his “Never Surrender” sneakers at Sneaker Con in Philadelphia on February 17. The shoes quickly sold out on his new website GetTrumpSneakers.com. The gold sneakers were priced at $399.

Only 1,000 pairs of Trump’s gold sneakers were released. The shoes were limited to three pairs per customer. Two other styles of sneakers remained available for purchase on Trump’s shoe-centric website. The former president also sold Trump-branded cologne and perfume on the website.

Candace Owens Gives Joe Budden Her Harsh Opinion on Black Culture

Joe Budden has debuted his highly anticipated interview with Candace Owens and the conservative pundit expresses some harsh opinions on the state of Black culture.

Joe Budden Interviews Candace Owens

On Friday (March 15), Joe Budden finally delivered after teasing the interview with the controversial right-wing talking head for the past couple of weeks. During the interview, which can be seen in full here, the two discuss opinions on Black America, fat acceptance, porn addiction, how she’s perceived and more. At one point during the interview, Owens got on the topic of her disdain for the current state of Black culture and cited Ice Spice‘s latest single “Think U the S**t (Fart).”

“I just don’t need to hear about Ice Spice’s farts,” Candace sternly declares in the video below. “I just don’t. I don’t want to hear about it. We used to produce really good music and it’s gone down the drain. I think even that is international. I think it’s because it’s a part of the, ‘Let’s slowly make it modify the education systems so that Black people can’t read and, at the same time, feed them with a pipeline of garbage,’ and you will wake up one day, and what surrounds you will be garbage.”

She continues: “Now, we’re at a place where we don’t even just produce it, we defend it. We’re like, ‘That’s Black culture.’ No, it’s not. When did you grow up? That’s not Black culture that I grew up with. So, don’t try to make me love filth.”

Candace Owens Previously Calls Out Ice Spice

This is not the first time Candace Owens has been critical of Ice Spice. Following the released of “Fart” back in January, Ownes blasted the track on her show.

“If you’re wondering whether or not it’s a good song, what do you think? It’s called ‘Think U The S**t (Fart)’,” Owens said before playing a clip from the song. “Now I think we can all admit that we’ve fallen as a society. I mean, I wouldn’t say that was Mozart or Beethoven, but I’m not all of these mainstream media publications that routinely run to defend this kind of music similar to what they did with ‘WAP’ the most disgusting and filthiest lyrics I’ve ever read. They will then sit down and write an article trying to convince you that what you just heard was magical and they did this with this Ice Spice song.”

Candace Owens Fires Back At Peter Rosenberg For His Joe Budden Criticism

Joe Budden’s decision to interview Candace Owens did not sit well with Peter Rosenberg. The radio host subliminally called out Budden for sitting down with the far-right media personality.

“So sick of the idea that conversations need to be had with bigots, trolls, and immoral a-holes… exchanging ideas among smart good people is useful… hearing a hateful hack babble on about hate is not worth anyone’s time,” Peter Rosenberg tweeted on Tuesday (February 27).

Candace Owens addressed Rosenberg in a series of tweets. On Wednesday (February 28), the conservative commentator shared dismissive posts directed at the Hot 97 presenter.

“I love this so much. I don’t know who Peter Rosenberg is but I want to thank him for freaking out about me and @JoeBudden speaking with one another,” Owens wrote on X.

The outspoken Black Lives Matter critic also added, “Literally who the hell is @Rosenbergradio, who grew up in one of the wealthiest towns in America, to step to two black people—who came from nothing— to tell them they shouldn’t speak.”

In addition, Candace Owens mentioned Rosenberg’s father. She wrote, “Peter Rosenberg is a plantation supervisor. His dad, MJ Rosenberg, worked on Capitol Hill for Democratic Senators and House members for 20 years and then worked with AIPAC for 6 years thereafter.”
