Cole Bennett Directs Eminem’s “Doomsday 2” Visual With Denzel Curry, Big Sean, And Other Friends

Earlier this month marked the 25th anniversary of Eminem’s “My Name Is.” The classic song remains one of the rapper’s best-known releases, though he’s still sharing new music with us all this time later. Marshall Mathers has matured a lot since he first got his big break, but his fast-paced flow remains undefeated. We’ve heard him and Benzino going back and forth on various diss tracks in recent weeks. In particular, hip-hop heads are loving his work on Lyrical Lemonade’s compilation album, All Is Yellow, in late January.

Em appears on “Doomsday 2” with some words for his rival and today (March 13), he and Cole Bennett finally unleashed their music video. “Now I got a riddle, one condition, you mustn’t laugh /What is the opposite of Benzino? A giraffe,” the Detroit native remarks. “‘Go at his neck,’ how the f**k is that? / How can I go at somethin’ he doesn’t have?” he continues over production from Daniyel, John Nocito, Mel-Man, and Dr. Dre.

Eminem Carries Himself With Confidence Through “Doomsday 2”

As Uproxx notes, Bennett opted to use the same building where he filmed the original “Doomsday” visual with Cordae and Juice WRLD. While the camera keeps its focus almost entirely on Mathers, we do see cameos from several other rap icons. Teezo Touchdown, JID, Big Sean, Cordae, Denzel Curry, and Babytron all appear throughout, along with Swae Lee of Rae Sremmurd fame. After proving his lyrical prowess on “Doomsday 2,” rumours of Eminem “falling off” have all but been put to bed. Now, we’re curious to see what he has in store for us next.

Other popular titles to appear on All Is Yellow earlier this winter include “Guitar In My Room” with Lil Durk and Kid Cudi, “Stop Giving Me Advice” from Jack Harlow and Dave, plus Latto, Swae Lee, and Amine’s “Special.” Tap into the full 14-track LP at the link below, and check back in with HNHH this weekend to stream more of our release recommendations.

Ari Lennox Fans Demand Answers For 2024 Dreamville Festival Lineup Absence

The 2024 Dreamville Festival unveiled its lineup with a surprising omission on Thursday (March 7). Fans questioned why Dreamville Records artist Ari Lennox was not part of this year’s event, which is scheduled to take place in North Carolina on April 6-7.

“Some of the biggest names in music will travel to Raleigh in only a few short weeks, bringing about one of the most highly anticipated festivals of the year,” the festival’s president Adam Roy said. “Our team looks forward to welcoming all of our Day One fans from around the world back to Dreamville Festival.”

Lennox’s absence stood out since she was the only member of the Dreamville Records roster missing from the lineup. J. Cole, J.I.D, Bas, Cozz, EarthGang, Lute and Omen were all booked for the two-day festival.

The 2024 Dreamville Festival featured J. Cole, Nicki Minaj, SZA and Chris Brown as headliners. Other performers included ScHoolboy Q, Sexyy Red, Lil Yachty, Jeezy, Monica, Teezo Touchdown, Muni Long and Rae Sremmurd.

Lennox will miss this year’s Dreamville Festival after a rough experience as the opener on Rod Wave’s tour. The R&B singer faced disrespect at the shows, including a fan throwing a water bottle at her. She reflected on her tough times as an opening act on Instagram Live in January.

“It’s one thing to hate me, that’s fine,” Lennox said. “Like you hate me. But it’s another thing to be like ‘Get this b#### off stage,” or like have your little signs or like assault me. It’s just like what is this aggression? Like you’re that p#####?”

She added, “It was just a very hard two and a half f###### months. Very, very, very hard. And very lonely too. But I thought it would be a good idea.”

View some of the reactions to Lennox’s absence from the 2024 Dreamville Festival below.

Dreamville Festival 2024 Lineup: J. Cole, Nicki Minaj, SZA, Chris Brown & More

The wait is finally over: we now have the official lineup and headliners for the Dreamville Festival this year in Raleigh, North Caroline. Moreover, tickets are still available here, and it will take place on Saturday and Sunday, April 6 and 7 at the Dorothea Dix Park six years after its original inception. The festival’s headliners are none other than J. Cole himself, Nicki Minaj, SZA, and Chris Brown. Other performers are the following: JID, ScHoolboy Q, Lil Yachty, Sexyy Red, Jeremih, EARTHGANG, Teezo Touchdown, Amaarae, Lute, Luh Tyler, Domani, Rema, Jeezy, Monica, Rae Sremmurd, Key Glock, Bas, Muni Long, Cozz, Omen, TiaCorine, and Chase Shakur.

Furthermore, this is shaping up to be a pretty stacked year when it comes to artist-led music festivals. For example, Jack Harlow recently announced his inaugural Gazebo Music Festival in Louisville Kentucky on Memorial Day weekend (May 25 and 26) this year. The lineup actually has some crossover with the Dreamville Festival, as expected for festival seasons, with SZA and Amaarae also hitting the stage at Gazebo. But the most exciting part about this lineup is the names that you might not catch anywhere else, such as what is presumably ScHoolboy Q’s first performance after dropping his new album BLUE LIPS.

Dreamville Festival 2024: See Lineup

Meanwhile, we already knew that Nicki Minaj was headlining, but her comments on the London festival Wireless might suggest her excitement for Dreamville. “Instead of doing another arena show in London after we sold out in the first week, I opted to do Wireless Festival,” she said of her U.K. travels. “This year’s show will be a billion times more special, creative, beautiful, cohesive, ugh! I’m so excited. I’d like to tell you guys thank you in advance. Last year was so meaningful but won’t compare. Just wait & see.”

As such, maybe this will be her big chance to show out for Raleigh during her Pink Friday 2 world tour. Who would you be the most excited to see on this lineup, and are you copping tickets for the record label’s special event? Whatever the case, drop your thoughts in the comments section down below. Also, check back in with HNHH for the latest on these artists, Dreamville, and more music festivals.

Rappers You Didn’t Realize Were Related

Rappers often talk about the importance of brotherhood and sisterhood in their lyrics. Sometimes it’s not literal, but on the flip side, there are plenty of rappers you didn’t know were related.

Young Thug often collaborates with Lil Baby, Lil Uzi Vert, Gunna and Lil Durk and frequently refers to them as his brothers. But Thugger is not related to any of them in real life.

“I’m ready to die by Lil Baby, Durk and Uzi, Gunna. I’m ready to die by these people. You know what I’m saying?” Thugger explained to Zane Lowe on his Apple Music 1’s New Music Daily show back in April of 2021. “I always turn them [as] family. We don’t look at them like rappers. We all look at each other like brothers and sisters. Bro, we really argue every day, bro.”

But real-life siblings and relatives do exist in rap. Some of them have made a huge impact in the genre. West Coast G-funk pioneers Dr. Dre and Warren G are actual stepbrothers. By looking at them, you may not realize that they are related.

Another pair is Slim Jxmmi and Swae Lee of Rae Sremmurd. Their energetic personalities are so intuitive, and there’s a reason why—Slim and Swae are actually brothers.

Then, there’s Kendrick Lamar, who has everyone repeating his “top of the morning” line from “Family Ties,” his collaborative track with Baby Keem. What you may not know is that K-Dot and Keem are cousins. And there are plenty more relatives that are putting it down for hip-hop. So check out XXL‘s list below of rappers that you probably didn’t realize were related.—Trent Fitzgerald
