Horrorcore Veteran Insane Poetry is Still Killing the Game with “Violent Art” (Album Review)

This is the 9th full-length album from Los Angeles horrorcore pioneer Insane Poetry. Originally composed of 6 members members from 1988-2003, the named would be carried on solely by their Day 1 frontman Cyco ever since. But since 2010, he’s made himself quite at home with Lyrikal Snuff Productionz. Especially his last album Wicked Killagraphy a year & a half ago, which is already being followed up by Violent Art in light of The Generations of Snuff Tour.

“Museum Stabbing” is a soulfully produced opener thanks to the homie Dead Heat with Insane Poetry talking about how there’s no limits to this kind of art which I respectfully agree with to a certain extent, but then “I Wrote a Book About It” works in a misty boom bap instrumental telling the listeners what he did to leave them under the Earth or to make your jugular squirt. Donnie Menace tags along for “I Spent a Whole Summer” shoots for a more cinematic approach in terms of sound to talk about strategizing whereas the Cody Manson assisted “8 Weeks” returns to soul territory confessing they hear this woman’s voice in their head even after she’s been dead for that long.

As far as “On Demon Time” goes, we have Lex the Hex Master accompanying Cyco over a beat with some rock undertones to it to belittle their lyrical competition leading into M.M.M.F.D. spitting that wicked shit on “What’s the Body Count” returning to the boom bap. “Out the Cage” with Claas switches onto the trap lane talking about their killer instincts being let loose while the song “Who” takes a dustier route revealing himself to be the one who has everyone tuned in his art of violence. “Lay ‘Em Down” brings in some attracting piano melodies promising to body you where you stand & “Mask Down” is a soulful closer telling the wankstas that this isn’t their vacation.

LSP’s been on a ROLL this year now that Darby O’Trill dropped his Devereaux-produced 4th album Gully & even Cody Manson putting out his sophomore effort E=MC Skelter last Friday. Now that we have Violent Art, it’s an equally great follow-up to Wicked Killagraphy. I think his production choices are still continuing to improve & the performances from not only him, but every feature deliver some consistently murderous verses.

Score: 8/10

Kim Kardashian Takes Saint West To A Chaotic Lakers Game

Kim Kardashian was once again playing the role of sports mom as she and her son Saint West were spotted courtside for the Lakers’ matchup against the Warriors this week. Kim sported a tight-fitting white tee and black leather pants while Saint wore an oversized LeBron jersey. Other big-name fans taking in the game were Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez as well as the Kardashian-affiliated Bad Bunny.

However, the game itself was chaotic. The final two minutes of play took over 20 minutes to complete due to a myriad of issues. Darvin Ham challenged an out-of-bounds call that won the Lakers the ball but cost the team points due to a prior LeBron three being ruled out on review. The game was delayed by yet more reviews before the shot clock decided to simply stop working. Despite 40 points from LeBron, the Lakers fell 128-121. During the turmoil, Kim and Saint posed for several pictures for courtside photographers. Kim also spoke with fans while Saint flashed a peace sign at the cameras.

Kim Kardashian Shows Off Saint West Basketball Highlight Reel

Elsewhere, Kim was a proud mom last month, posting a makeshift highlight reel of Saint playing basketball. The 8-year-old showed off some impressive skills when it came to playing in transition and pull-up shooting. In the comments online, people half-jokingly compared Saint to Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant.

Of course, Saint isn’t the only hooper in the family. A recent TikTok by North West showing off some impressive dribbling ability has been met with a wave of hilarious reactions from fans. While many people were impressed by West’s ball handling, more than a few commenters couldn’t help but crack some jokes. “CP3 a good trainer yea,” one fan wrote. The short comment refers to claims that Kanye West made in 2022 that Kardashian had cheated on him with Chris Paul. No proof that the rumor was true ever emerged, but it is one that has stuck with fans.

A$AP Rocky Stuck In Waiting Game For Trial In Assault Case

A$AP Rocky did not appear at a status hearing in his assault case on Wednesday (March 6). According to legal reporter Meghann Cuniff, no trial date was set as a pre-trial hearing was scheduled for May 26.

Los Angeles County prosecutors told Judge Karla Kerlin they did not expect a plea deal to avoid trial. Rocky’s lawyer Joe Tacopina previously indicated his desire to prove the rapper’s innocence in court.

“We’re going to try the case in the courtroom,” Tacopina told reporters in January. “And when we do, facts will come out that show that he’s truly innocent. And that he’s a victim in this case.”

Rocky has been accused of shooting his former friend A$AP Relli during a November 2021 confrontation in Hollywood. Relli claimed Rocky fired a shot that grazed Relli’s left hand. Rocky allegedly fired two or three more times before fleeing the scene.

Police arrested Rocky in 2022. Prosecutors charged him with two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm.

“Discharging a gun in a public place is a serious offense that could have ended with tragic consequences not only for the person targeted but also for innocent bystanders visiting Hollywood,” Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said in 2022. “My office conducted a thorough review of the evidence in this case and determined that the addition of a special firearm allegation was warranted.

Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, pleaded not guilty to the charges. He remained out of jail after posting a $550,000 bond. His attorney targeted a September 2024 start date for his trial.

“We hope to be on trial by September in this case,” Tacopina said. “I want to get this done and over with so he can start enjoying his family and move on.”

Rocky could be sentenced to up to nine years in prison if convicted. He also faced a lawsuit for assault and defamation in connection to the shooting.
