Detroit rapper Big Sean received the key to his hometown yesterday (April 1), and a ceremony that was attended by the mayor.
Big Sean’s non-prit the Sean Anderson Foundation recently kicked f the Mogul Prep Experiential Tour.
The rapper teamed with Quicken Loans to promote a new curriculum his foundation created to be utilized by thousands middle and high school students and educators.
The goal is to use the student’s interest in the music business as a gateway to a career in any industry.
Over 100 students from local area high schools attended the ceremony, which took place at The Madison Building.
“Big Sean not only represents Detroit in song, he has worked tirelessly for the young people Detroit,” Mayor Mike Duggan said.
“Through the work his foundation, Big Sean has impacted thousands Detroit youth. That’s why we are honoring him with the Key to the City,” the Mayor continued. “The City and I thank Big Sean for his commitment to being an instrument encouragement to the youth Detroit.”
