Sixers Suspend Jahlil Okafor After More Fight Videos Emerge

The Philadelphia 76ers have announced that Jahlil Okafor has been suspended, effective immediately, following new video footage that showed the rookie big man getting into a scuffle with hecklers in Boston.

This is the official statement from the Sixers organization:

Jahlil is a very important part of our organization and our future.  While we are disappointed with his recent actions, we have faith in him as a valued member of the Sixers. We will provide the necessary resources to support him on his journey and will do our part to help him succeed both on and off the court.

Furthermore, head coach Brett Brown has said that the team will be providing Okafor with a body guard whenever he goes out.

Despite Ja’s off the court issues, he has been very productive thus far in his rookie campaign, averaging 17.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.

Okafor’s two game suspension will begin tonight when the Sixers take on the Knicks. On the bright side, at least he won’t have to worry about getting stuffed through the rim by Kristaps Porzingis
