Tyler, the Creator is banned from the UK, Australia, & New Zealand.
In August, the United Kingdom banned Tyler, the Creator from entering their borders for 3-5 years because his music “encourage violence and intolerance of homosexuality” and “foster hatred with views thats seek to provoke others to terrorist acts.” Tyler let off a powerful Twitter rebuttal soon after officials announced the ban, and in a recent profile in Rolling Stone, he elaborated on his comments, saying that he believes race played a role in his ban from UK, and also from Australia and New Zealand.
“It’s other people who’ve actually done things and they’re still allowed in these places,” said Tyler, referring to artists who have physically abused women. “Then I start to think, is it status? Is it because I’m not as big as them? And then it’s like, ‘No, that probably can’t be it.’ What could the other reason be? Then the other thing is, like, ‘I guess it could be because of the color of the skin that I have.’”
“Everyone’s so sensitive. Why the fucking parents ain’t fucking raising their kids to not take shit seriously, to be smart enough to know what’s right and wrong?’ Or instead of banning me from a country, why don’t you just make sure the f*cking kids don’t go to the show, you dumbass? Is that hard?”
