James Corden says he REJECTED The Wanted for Carpool Karaoke

The Late Late Show host was playing a game Spill Your Guts Or Fill Your Guts with Katy Perry when he was asked who he had turned down a ride.

"I turned down The Wanted, do you remember them?" James told Katy.

The singer responded by saying that The Wanted's fans would be coming for him and James said to that, "well I'll happily meet all seven them in the parking lot at some point."

The Wanted - who split in 2014 - heard about the late night host's dig and denied ever requesting a Carpool Karoake appearance.

Jay McGuiness tweeted: "Anyone know what Cordon was on about @TomParker @SivaKaneswaran @MaxGeorge @NathanSykes? Nonplussed over here. Many loves x"

To be fair to The Wanted, the first Carpool Karaoke didn't air on The Late Late Show until March 25t, 2015, a year after the band split up.

The Late Late Show sketch will soon be found in an extended form on Apple Music as spin-f TV series.

However, James - who originally invented the musical skit for a Comic Relief sketch starring the late George Michael - will only be in the driving seat for one episode before handing over to 15 other hosts.

“We’re going to have 16 different hosts,' Late Late Show host Ben Winston said at CBS’s Carpool Karaoke panel at TCA this year.

Chelsea Handler, Seth MacFarlane, John Legend, Billy Eichner are among the sixteen famous names set for the new series streaming on Apple Music.
