Chance The Rapper Uses Birthday Wish As Call-To-Action To Free Young Thug

Chance The Rapper is celebrating his birthday in an unconventional way by using his grand solar return and social media channels as a platform to petition for Young Thug’s prison release.

On Tuesday (April 16), Chance shared a post on Instagram featuring presumably a throwback video of he and Thug calmly chopping it up stamped with the text “Top 2 DOA [Dead or Alive].” In the caption of the post the “No Problems” rapper revealed that his sole wish for his birthday was for Thug to be able to be with his family as the ongoing YSL RICO trial continues.

“For my birthday I just wish my brother was home with his family,” Chance wrote in part.

As Chance continued, he appeared to criticize the trial, which has been plagued by a number of stoppages and misconduct and subsequently added to Thug’s time behind bars.

“This circus of a trial has had him in custody for over a year and with all the legal errors, jury misconduct and conflicts of interest by the state he deserves to at the very least fight this from home,” he wrote.

Over the years, Chance The Rapper and Young Thug have built out a stealthy yet healthy collaborative footprint. Likely the duo’s most notable collaboration arrived on Chance The Rapper’s fan-favorite mixtape, Acid Rap, in the form of the track “Mixtape” featuring Lil Yachty. In 2021, Young Thug added a guest verse on for the Chicago native’s Instagram EP track “Instagram Song 8” and prior to that, they joined forces for the 2017 track “Big B’s.” Thug also notably made a cameo in the official music video for Chance The Rapper’s Grammy-Award winning hit, “No Problem featuring Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz, which included cameos from DJ Khaled and Boosie Badazz, among others.

Chance The Rapper’s appeal for Young Thug’s freedom arrives amid a tumultuous shift in the YSL RICO trial after the full list of 200-plus witnesses was released and it was confirmed Gunna would not be taking the stand against his rap mentor.

Additionally, along with the judge presiding over the trial threatening to schedule court dates on the weekend, a witness, whose identity remains confidential for their safety, accused an investigator identified by his last name of Hamilton of engaging in sexual harassment.

Gunna Clarifies Young Thug Relationship & Addresses Snitching Allegations

Gunna is clarifying the status of his relationship with Young Thug after taking a plea deal in the ongoing YSL RICO trial and how he feels about those snitching allegations.

According to Gunna, people have been “misled” about the whole situation, and while he hasn’t heard the subliminal shots fired at him by his peers, he remains on good terms with Young Thug. He also claimed to have spoken “peacefully” with several rappers who accused him of being a rat.

Gunna addressed his relationship with Young Thug in a recent XXL cover story. “It’s the same,” he said,” adding, “It’s love, always. Our relationship is our relationship.”

Commenting on snitching allegations from Lil Durk, 21 Savage, Lil Baby and others, Gunna said they’re uninformed. “They’re not on the case,” he said, before adding, “They don’t know legally what’s going on.”

Moreover, Gunna claimed he spoke to “two or three of those guys,” on the phone. When asked if they were on “good terms,” he insisted they spoke “peacefully.”

While Gunna has kept a relatively low profile since his release from jail, he has kept the music coming. After dropping his first post-jail album last summer, A Gift & A Curse, which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Chart, Gunna is gearing up to release his fifth studio offering, One of Wun.

On Monday (April 15), he shared the artwork on Instagram, promising the project is “on the way.

Young Thug Trial: YSL CO-Founder Confirms What “Thug” Stands For

As Young Thug‘s YSL trial carries on, it’s been a turbulent few weeks for everyone in the courtroom. There’s been a myriad of viral moments where witnesses lash out, shut down completely, or straight up confess they aren’t in the right headspace to be testifying. That’s also come amongst questions about the behavior of various members of the district attorney’s office and a motion filed by Thug’s lawyers to have the lead prosecutor removed from the case.

Now the newest witness on the stand is DK, one of the co-founders of YSL. While being questioned by the defense, he was asked if he knew what “Thug” stood for. It’s been a point of contention in the trial as the prosecution tries to cite his rap name as evidence that the label is also a gang. DK gave credit to an argument the defense has been making since early in the trial, that “Thug” stands for “Truly Humble Under God.” He also claimed that it stands for “The Hate U Give” in different circumstances. Check out the video of DK giving his testimony below.

YSL-Co Founder Testifies About What “Thug” Means In Young Thug

Last month, Thug’s lawyers filed a motion to have some of the witnesses removed from the witness list. They projected that the trial could last until 2027 if everyone on the witness list was questioned at the same pace they had been so far. In response some witnesses were cleared, including Lil Wayne who was originally expected to testify. He was one of multiple rappers included on the list of potential witnesses but was the only one removed. Rich Homie Quan, YFN Lucci, and Birdman are all still on the list of potential witnesses in the case.

What do you think of one of YSL’s co-founders confirming that “Thug” stands for “Truly Humble Under God”? Do you think the testimony will help Thug’s defense push back on the allegations that YSL is a gang? Let us know in the comment section below.

Young Thug Trial: YSL Affiliate Questioned About Wearing A Wire After Plea Deal

The latest development in the Young Thug trial, also involving the rest of YSL on RICO charges, concerns one of the collective’s alleged co-founders, Walter “DK” Murphy. Moreover, he sat on the witness stand recently as a part of his plea deal, similar to the one that Gunna also accepted as a former defendant. During this testimony, an attorney asked him about his alleged compliance with wearing a wire back in July of 2015, and that he agreed to be an informant. Murphy retorted that he “can’t recall” ever agreeing to this or wearing a wire at all, staunchly denying that he was, or ever agreed to be, an informant.

Furthermore, this specific issue deals with what Young Thug’s lawyer Brian Steel once called one of the most damaging things in this trial: plea deals. While it’s impossible to blame someone for how they handled these strenuous circumstances many of us have no experience with, it’s also difficult to reckon with this testimony when it’s a part of an agreement like this. Still, since the trial’s inception almost two years ago, there are more relevant issues today that are plaguing its efficacy, objectivity, and clarity. For example, a state witness became very uncooperative with the prosecution’s questions, derailing their intention to strengthen their case.

In addition, some very concerning reports and testimonies emerged about members of the prosecution harassing a female witness. These incidents ranged across two specific instances from the District Attorney’s office: platitudes to pressure the woman into testifying and an investigator inappropriately flirting with her. Even though this is a pretty disturbing look, it’s not like the defense has fully been able to reverse the narrative, whether due to circumstance or by choice. Many of the problems in proving the veracity of this case come from the prosecution, but little in the way of countering evidence has swayed the court’s path.

Meanwhile, these reports also come amid updated witness lists, on which Lil Wayne no longer appears. In addition, the court also clarified whether Gunna will be a witness in this case or not, both for eligibility as a witness and for actually making it to trial. Maybe these witnesses will also prove either crucial or backfiring for the prosecution or defense. Either way, stay up to date on HNHH for the latest news and more updates on Young Thug and the YSL RICO case.

Young Thug Vibes to Music During Court But Who’s He Listening To?

Nobody knows what Young Thug is listening to in a new court video but it certainly looks like he’s vibing with it.

Young Thug Jams to Music While Waiting for the YSL RICO Trial to Begin

On Friday (April 12), Young Thug appeared in court for day 59 of the YSL RICO trial. As the Atlanta rapper sat in the courtroom waiting for the day’s proceedings to begin, he appeared to be preparing for the day by listening to some music, which, by the looks of things, was a banger.

In the video clip below, Thugger is seen with a single earbud in his ear while nodding his head in enjoyment as all of the other people around him prepare for the day’s testimony.

Social Media Speculates What Young Is Listening to in the Courtroom

As the clip of Young Thug jamming out ahead of Friday’s court proceedings spread across X, formerly known as Twitter, plenty of users and social media blogs are coming to their own conclusions as to what he may be playing in his earbud.

“I want to know what @youngthug was listening to in court today but I think it was peaches & eggplants,” one user ponders in reference to Yung Nudy’s 2023 hit “Peaches & Eggplants” featuring 21 Savage.

The My Mixtapez blog is under the assumption that Thugger is going with something a bit more contemporary, chiming in with: “Young Thug listening to that new Future and Metro album while waiting for the jurors to arrive.”

Witness in Young Thug YSL Trial Refuses to Answer Questions

A State witness in the Young Thug YSL RICO trial became hostile and began to refuse to answer questions during yesterday’s hearing.

Witness Refuses Questioning From State

On Tuesday (April 9), Day 56 of the Young Thug YSL RICO trial took place in Fulton County Superior Court. During the tail-end of yesterday’s case, the State called witness D’angelo White to the stand. White, who is from Young Thug’s Cleveland Ave. stomping ground, started out answering questions from the State about his past. Things began to get contentious when the prosecutor began asking White questions specifically about Young Thug.

“What do this got to do with me?” White answered one question around the 6:45:00 mark of the video below. “This ain’t got nothing to do with me. I shouldn’t be here.”

From there, he continued to repeat, “I shouldn’t be here” to every question he was asked.

“Why am I here? This is not my case,” White added. The prosecutor continued to try to ask White questions but he refused to give answers. Court eventually went to recess.

YSL RICO Case Drags On

After beginning on Nov. 27, 2023, there have only been 56 days of actual trial. The trial doesn’t appear like it will come to a conclusion anytime soon. Most recently, an attorney for the defense claimed the case could take up to three years to try at its current pace. The State initially had 700 witnesses. The list was cut down to 400 and has since reportedly been chopped down to 200.

The state of Georgia has charged Young Thug and his five codefendants of being a violent street gang that committed various crimes throughout Atlanta over the past decade.

Young Thug Trial: State Confirms Whether Or Not Gunna Will Be A Witness

Overall, the Young Thug trial has been a bit of a confusing mess as of late. Although many have been following along closely, there have been all sorts of bizarre happenings that have fans concerned. For instance, witnesses have been blowing out mics while the state, the defense, and the judge have all gotten into verbal spats. Moreover, it is being said that this trial could take all the way until 2027 to play out. It feels like Thugger and all of hip-hop are on trial here, which makes it so that the stakes have never been higher.

Meanwhile, fans have been curious about where Gunna fits in all of this. He was arrested at the same time as Young Thug back in May of 2022. While he was in jail for a while, he was eventually freed. This subsequently led to accusations of being a snitch. Numerous artists throughout hip-hop decided to cut ties with the artist, and since that time, he has been rebuilding his career. On Tuesday, however, the snitch allegations were seemingly put to rest. This is because the state confirmed that Gunna will not be a witness in the case.

Good News For Gunna As The Young Thug Trial Continues

There is an extremely lengthy list of witnesses that still need to be called to the stand. That said, none of them are Gunna. This means he will not have to show up in court as his former mentor continues to face a potentially life-altering sentence. Only time will tell if artists who previously denounced Gunna, will make nice with him. Lil Baby, Drake, and even Metro Boomin have distanced themselves from the artist. Unfortunately for Gunna, this new information might not be enough to shift the perception.

Let us know what you think of the Young Thug trial so far, in the comments section down below. Do you believe that this is going to take three years to play out? What do you make of Gunna not being a witness in all of this? Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will continue to keep you informed on all of your favorite artists and their upcoming projects.

Young Thug Trial: DA Investigator Caught Flirting With Female Witness Via Text

The Young Thug is once again showing that there’s far more wrong going on within it that has nothing to do with the subject of the trial itself. Moreover, the court recently saw text message exchanges between an investigator from the Fulton County District Attorney’s office and a female witness. Specifically, Investigator Rasheed Hamilton flirted with this woman, whom authorities arrested in order to get her to testify last month after she refused to cooperate, and following complaints, Thugger’s lawyers were able to obtain these messages. She testified that Hamilton harassed her in the same conversation in which they discussed the possibility of becoming a witness against the YSL collective’s six remaining defendants.

Furthermore, this pattern highlights the poor treatment of this witness throughout this process, as her testimony saw her claim that she was forced to testify despite her mental health struggles. In addition, there was also a dispute over whether or not the witness expressed to tell the judge he “can kiss her a**,” which prosecutors stand by. However, Young Thug’s defense argued on Monday (April 8) that this wasn’t the case, and that she complained about this harassment and requested a call with the judge. Text message exchanges also emerged between the witness and Adriane Love, the Chief Deputy D.A. and the lead prosecutor in this case, which weren’t as bad as Hamilton’s advances but still suggested foul play, the defense believes.

Young Thug Trial Tackles Inappropriate Flirting From Investigator To Witness

Young Thug’s lawyer Keith Adams believes that Love’s personal messages to the witness indicate an unabashed attempt to win a witness’ favor in a criminal prosecution. The opposing side found these messages to be irrelevant to the trial, and simply niceties. Still, it seems like Judge Ural Glanville will not find these messages to be of much relevance, as Love was permitted to stay as lead prosecutor despite the rapper’s attorney, Brian Steel, questioning her witness interactions. What should’ve been a one or two-day testimony became so much more due to issues between the defense and the prosecution.

Meanwhile, this also follows complaints against the judge’s alleged bias from the defensive side. While this trial seems no closer to a resolution, we fear that this is only the beginning. Hopefully one day, some bond or bail can fall on the cards. For more news and the latest updates on the Young Thug trial, come back to HNHH.

Young Thug Judge Threats Weekend Court To Speed Up Trial

The judge presiding over Young Thug’s RICO case has expressed concerns over lawyers’ predictions that the rap star’s trial could extend for years, potentially becoming Georgia’s longest trial.

In an attempt to reign in the timeline, the judge has taken a firm stance on managing the court’s schedule more strictly.

As a result, Judge Ural Glanville is threatening to hold court on weekends to speed up the proceedings.

This move signifies the court’s growing impatience with the trial’s slow pace, which has been bogged down by numerous delays and interruptions.

If necessary, a court would be held on Saturday and Sunday. Judge Glanville informed prosecutors and defense attorneys.

The trial has already seen its share of drama and unexpected developments.

Among these developments was the stabbing of co-defendant Shannon Stillwell in the Fulton County Jail in December 2023, causing a significant delay.

Illnesses among attorneys and the judge have further prolonged the trial, testing the patience of all parties involved.

Four months into the proceedings, with roughly 40 witnesses having testified, the prosecution’s list includes over 100 additional names, raising concerns about the trial’s potential extension well into 2024, 2025, 2026, or even as far as 2027.

In light of these challenges, Judge Glanville has requested that attorneys make themselves available earlier on certain days, emphasizing the need to expedite the trial without compromising its integrity.

Young Thug has been locked up for almost two years. He was ordered to be held without bond in May of 2022 and has lost four attempts at getting out of prison.

Lil Wayne Unveils Highly Anticipated Track “Bless” Featuring Young Thug

Lil Wayne just dropped a highly anticipated collaboration for all the hip-hop heads out there! After a long-standing feud and much excitement, Weezy took to Twitter the other day, to announce a major collaboration titled “Bless,” featuring none other than Young Thug. Now the wait is over, and “Bless” has hit the airwaves. The significance of this feature can’t be overstated, especially considering the history between Lil Wayne and Young Thug. Back in the day, Thugger raised eyebrows by hinting at naming his album Carter 6 as a tribute to Lil Wayne, his idol. This move didn’t sit well with Weezy fans, who felt it was a bit too close to home, especially since Thugger aimed to drop his album before Wayne could release his long-awaited Tha Carter V.

Moreover, things got even more heated when Lil Wayne addressed the situation at a Mississippi concert, calling out artists who posed naked on album covers. While Thug denied trolling, the tension lingered, especially amidst Wayne’s legal battle with Birdman and Cash Money over the release of “Tha Carter V.” Furthermore, adding more drama to the mix, Young Thug and Birdman found themselves entangled in a legal mess after Lil Wayne’s tour bus was shot up in Atlanta back in 2015. Although neither was convicted, the incident became part of a larger legal saga involving Young Thug and his label, YSL.

The new single will appear on Lil Wayne’s upcoming project Weezy Vs. Weezy.

However, now, with the unveiling of “Bless” and its unexpected feature from Young Thug, fans can’t contain their excitement. Produced by Wheezy, this track is a game-changer.
