Diddy Parts Ways With Star Island Mansion in $55 Million Sale

Sean “Diddy” Combs has officially sold one of his prominent waterfront properties on Miami Beach’s exclusive Star Island for $55 million, according to recent property records. The transaction, which involves the estate located at 1 Star Island Drive, was finalized through Combs’ entity, 1 West Star Island LLC, and sold to JFStar LLC, a Newport News-based firm led by John A. Franklin. This high-profile sale highlights the continued movement within the elite Miami real estate market, as the nearly 8,000-square-foot residence sits on 1.3 acres of prime bayfront land. The estate features six bedrooms, eight and a half bathrooms, a private pool, a spa, and a private dock.

The property, which dates back to 1940 and underwent significant expansion in 1995, includes a two-story main residence and a separate guest cottage. Before Sean “Diddy” Combs acquired the home in 2021 for $35 million, it was owned by music industry icons Gloria and Emilio Estefan, who utilized the space as a guest retreat near their primary estate. The recent transaction appears to have been completed privately, bypassing a traditional public listing.

Records indicate that the buyer financed a portion of the purchase with an $18.5 million mortgage from the San Diego-based Axos Bank. Despite this sale, Combs retains ownership of the neighboring property at 2 Star Island Drive, which continues to serve as his primary residence on the island. This divestment occurs while Combs is currently serving a four-year federal prison sentence following convictions related to transportation for the purpose of engaging in prostitution, though he was notably acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering charges.

Star Island’s Enduring Celebrity Allure

Star Island remains one of the most exclusive residential enclaves in Miami Beach, housing roughly 30 estates that attract a mix of business moguls, investors, and high-profile celebrities. The island has seen a surge in major real estate activity recently, including billionaire hedge fund manager Ken Griffin’s expansion of his holdings to approximately 6.5 contiguous acres. Other notable transactions include Vlad Doronin’s $120 million estate purchase and Russell Weiner’s $35.3 million acquisition of a property formerly owned by Rosie O’Donnell.

The island also maintains deep ties to the hip-hop community. Rick Ross, for instance, increased the mortgage on his own Star Island home to $35 million, three years after his initial purchase. During that time, Combs famously gifted the rapper a golf cart, a gesture Ross documented on social media.
