By the conclusion of this contract, James Harden is projected to surpass $500 million in career earnings, making him only the eighth player in NBA history to reach this milestone. He joins an elite group of basketball icons, including LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Devin Booker, Paul George, Donovan Mitchell, and Joel Embiid.
Approaching his 37th birthday, Harden joined the Cavaliers prior to last season’s trade deadline, playing a pivotal role in the team’s push to the Eastern Conference Finals. By opting out of his player option for the upcoming season, Harden has facilitated a structure that allows him to secure a long-term commitment while providing the Cavaliers with the necessary financial flexibility to pursue key roster upgrades this summer.
During his 26 regular-season appearances with the Cavs last year, Harden averaged 20.5 points, 7.7 assists, and 4.8 rebounds per game. His postseason contributions remained steady, with averages of 19.2 points, 5.5 assists, and 5.1 rebounds.
