Young Thug Fails To Convince Judge To Remove Lead Prosecutor In RICO Trial

A Georgia judge rejected Young Thug’s attorney Brian Steel’s motion to disqualify the lead prosecutor in the YSL RICO trial on Thursday (April 4). According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Judge Ural Glanville allowed Assistant District Attorney Adriane Love to remain on the case despite Steel’s concerns about her questioning of a witness.

Steel claimed Love made herself an unsworn witness when she mentioned her conversations with a state witness in the presence of jurors. The state witness said an investigator for the prosecution harassed her in her testimony, which focused on an alleged incident involving Young Thug and YSL co-founder Walter Murphy in 2013.

Love pressed the state witness by saying, “Isn’t it true you told me” or “Isn’t it true that I told you” during questioning. Steel believed Love’s questions opened the door for him to cross-examine the prosecutor.

“Prosecutor Love has become a witness in this case solely because Prosecutor Love has, for some reason that only she is aware, voluntarily and continuously injected herself as an unsworn witness in this case for which no other witness, investigator or otherwise, is available to answer the questions that Prosecutor Love has forced [the defense] to ask,” Steel wrote in a motion filed on Monday (April 1).

Steel argued Love should be disqualified if he cannot cross-examine her. Assistant District Attorney Dane Uhelski pushed back, saying disqualification wasn’t appropriate. Judge Glanville sided with the prosecution.

Young Thug’s slow-moving RICO trial began in November 2023. Judge Glanville threatened to hold court on weekends to speed up the trial if necessary.

Prosecutors still have more than 150 witnesses to call as the trial is expected to last at least six more months. The jury is off this week for spring break.

Young Thug has remained behind bars since his 2022 arrest. He maintains his innocence.

Young Thug Trial: Lead Prosecutor Will Remain On The Case After Judge’s New Ruling

We’re already months into the Young Thug trial and it doesn’t appear to be close to reaching a resolution. In fact, some involved with the case have estimated that if the witness list isn’t shortened the trial could go on until 2027. Whether or not the bold prediction comes true remains to be seen but in the meantime the trial is continuing on despite one controversy after another throughout.

Most recently, Young Thug’s lawyers filed a new motion. They were attempting to have the lead prosecutor on the case, Adriane Love, removed from the trial. But after a newly announced ruling from the judge, she’s officially staying on the case. Video sharing the announcement features hundreds of comments about the judge’s bias. Fans following the trial have pointed out numerous times they felt like the judge was acting overtly biased in favor of the prosecution. “That judge want thug in jail I never seen a trial last this last long” and “Judge is bias common knowledge” two of the top comments on a post sharing the videos read. Check out the full announcement the judge made today.

Lead Prosecutor Will Stay On Young Thug RICO Trial

Messy stories about the YSL RICO trial seem to emerge almost every day. Earlier this week one of the witnesses in the case was being cross examined when she revealed some concerning details. She accused one of the investigators in Fulton County’s District Attorney’s office of sexually harassing her.

That came just a few days after a witness was allegedly forced to take the stand despite reporting suicidal thoughts. The witness was allegedly robbed in 2013 and the prosecution is attempting to prove Thug’s connection to it. But she was forced to take the stand despite making it clear she wanted no part in the trial. What do you think of the newest developments in the Young Thug YSL RICO trial? Do you think the court should take steps to prevent the trial from lasting as long as it appears it will? Let us know in the comment section below.

Young Thug Trial: Witness Alleges Fulton County Investigator Sexually Harassed Her

Overall, the Young Thug trial has been a bit of a mess. The prosecution has come across as wholly unprepared. Meanwhile, there are reports that this trial could go for another three years. Ultimately, it has been sad to see Thugger in this position. Fans want him to come home, but that doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen anytime soon. Furthermore, with the reports of this trial going on for a long time, his rights to a speedy trial are seemingly being compromised. However, things got even more complicated during the 50th day of the trial, on Wednesday.

According to Fox 5, a witness for the trial alleged that an investigator within the Fulton County DA’s office “sexually harassed” her. Thug’s lawyer Keith Adams was cross-examining the witness on the stand, when he brought up the alleged sexual harassment. “You told us when you were back there that you didn’t want to come and see him because he had sexually harassed you,” Adams explained. The witness agreed with the statement, and also seemingly confirmed that the investigator allegedly wanted to date her.

The woman also went on to confirm an alleged story about how the investigator had her come to a restaurant with her son. He subsequently said that after the trial, he would be willing to take her out on a date. Overall, the witness was at the trial because she allegedly had her apartment robbed by Young Thug in 2013. Young Thug Trial Takes Disturbing Turn With Witness Sexual Harassment Claim

Serious allegations have surfaced against an investigator working for the District Attorney’s office in the ongoing RICO trial involving Jeffery Williams, known professionally as Young Thug, and his YSL associates,

A witness, whose identity remains confidential for their safety, accused an investigator identified by his last name of Hamilton of engaging in inappropriate conduct, equating to sexual harassment.

This claim has introduced a new layer of controversy around a highly publicized trial already scrutinized for using Hip-Hop lyrics as prosecutorial evidence.

The witness revealed unsettling details about her interactions with the District Attorney’s office, particularly with Hamilton, who allegedly pursued her under the guise of discussing the case.

According to defense attorney Keith Adams, she felt compelled to bring her 20-year-old son to meetings for protection.

This drastic measure was prompted after Hamilton reportedly isolated the witness, forbade communication with others regarding the case, and made unprofessional advances, including an invitation for a personal outing post-trial.

This testimony was part of the larger RICO case against Young Thug and 27 others, linked to the Young Slime Life gang, an affiliate of the Bloods.

The indictments span across 65 counts, implicating the defendants in a host of serious crimes, from murder to drug trafficking.

Notably, the attempt to prosecute based partly on Williams’ lyrics has ignited a debate on artistic expression versus evidentiary relevance, with significant implications for Hip-Hop and freedom of speech.

Young Thug Trial: Witness In Tears As She’s Forced To Testify Despite Suicidal Thoughts

Yesterday (March 28) marked the 49th day of Young Thug‘s highly publicized RICO trial, and tension only continues to build. The legal battle is on track to break the record for being the longest trial in Georgia state history. It could continue for much longer too, as according to some legal experts, it’s likely to go on until at least 2027.

During the trial this week, one reluctant witness took the stand to recall being allegedly robbed by Young Thug and another man who she believed was his brother in 2013. She didn’t report the alleged robbery right away, but after hearing gunshots outside of her home hours later, called the police. The investigation was ultimately dropped after authorities could no longer get a hold of her. She denies ever reporting the alleged crime.

Witness Denies Accusing Young Thug Of Robbery

The witness has made it clear that she didn’t want any part in the trial, previously refusing to appear to testify. Recently, however, she was arrested and forced to, despite her deteriorating mental health. Reportedly, she told Fulton County Deputy DA Adriane Love that she had considered taking her own life. When asked why, she allegedly said, “because y’all [the state] are doing this.” Young Thug’s team objected to her giving a testimony, claiming that they weren’t made aware of this ahead of time.

The judge disagreed, however, and let her take the stand anyway. She got emotional when asked about her deceased mother. “I already told Ms. Love about my mother, that was a tragic situation,” she said, prompting Love to apologize. “You don’t gotta apologize Ms. Love, I know you did it on purpose,” the witness clapped back. What do you think of a witness being forced to testify despite reportedly suffering mental health consequences related to the case? Young Thug YSL Trial Will Probably Take Three Years

A defense attorney for the Young Thug YSL RICO trial fears the case could take three more years to try at its current pace.

Young Thug Trial Has No Ending in Sight

The epic YSL RICO trial in Georgia has been going on for close to four months and there is no sign of an ending in sight. On Wednesday (March 19), the attorney for Young Thug codefendant Deamonte Kendrick filed a court motion requesting a “detailed explanation of the expected testimony of each respective witness and an explanation of how that witness’ proposed testimony is not cumulative of other witnesses nor causing undue delay nor a waste of time…,” according to court documents obtained by Law&Crime News‘ Cathy Russon, which can be viewed below.

The motion cites the State’s list of 400 witnesses, which they already cut from 700. At this point, only 40 witnesses have testified.

“Thus the present trial will take well into a least mid-2027 to complete,” the motion continues.

The Young Thug YSL RICO Trial Drags On

The Young Thug YSL trial is currently in Day 46 after beginning on Nov. 27, 2023. The state of Georgia has charged Young Thug and his five codefendants of being a violent street gang that committed various crimes throughout Atlanta over the past decade. Young Thug, born Jeffery Williams, is being tabbed as the ringleader. He faces charges of criminal street-gang activity, violation of the Georgia controlled substances act, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a machine gun and drug crimes.

In a case that has been filled with bizarre moments, another one occurred on Tuesday, when a witness admitted he was high during his testimony.

Everyone Wants to Know When the Young Thug Trial Will End

It has been nearly two years since Young Thug, Gunna and 26 other accused YSL affiliates were arrested and indicted on RICO charges in May of 2022. With Thugger and 13 codefendants currently standing trial in Georgia, strange hiccups and a whole lot of red tape have caused many delays since the onset of the court proceedings. In fact, many factors indicate the Young Thug YSL RICO trial could drag on for months or even years to come. When will this trial come to an end?

The Length of Young Thug YSL RICO Trial Affects All Involved

With no apparent end in sight, the duration of the far-from-speedy trial is affecting all those involved as well as those who’ve been following the case for 22 months. Obviously, Young Thug’s career, his personal life and his overall freedom wait in the balance. As for the selected members of the jury, they are each required by law to serve out the full length of the trial until it comes to a definitive conclusion. At the same time, family members of the accused YSL affiliates and fans in general are all at a standstill eagerly awaiting a verdict that doesn’t even appear to be on the horizon.

Jury Selection Process in Young Thug YSL RICO Trial Takes 10 Months

The jury selection process itself took 10 months before the trial even officially began in November of 2023. After hundreds of potential jurors were vetted at the beginning of last year, presiding Judge Ural Glanville then declared in February of 2023 that 500 more people would be interviewed as part of the selection process. At the time, it was already assumed that the YSL trial could take up to a year, making it difficult for potential jurors to commit to taking that much time away from their typical day-to-day lives.

Wild Moments in Young Thug YSL RICO Trial Indicate No End in Sight

Once the jury was finally picked and the YSL RICO trial’s court proceedings kicked off last fall, all that has gone down in the courtroom over the past four months continues to prove that this will be a long, drawn-out process. Aside from scheduled breaks that have lasted for a week or more and sporadic days off due to things attorneys being sick, some of the reasons for delays in the trial have been much more extreme.

In December of 2023, less than one month following the opening statements, Judge Glanville postponed the trial after one of the YSL codefendants, Shannon Stillwell, was stabbed multiple times in his jail cell. The trial suffered an odd moment one month later when a Young Thug fan interrupted the proceedings via Zoom by screaming “Free Thug, mistrial! Free Thug, mistrial!”

In just the past week alone, as the trial reached its 45th day in session over four months, things came to a screeching halt twice due to behavior that is very rarely seen within a courtroom. After an argument broke out between two attorneys on March 14 over a ruling that the prosecution could not include a detective’s testimony as evidence, a bailiff had to step in to stop the heated exchange. Then, on March 19, the trial was once again interrupted by a witness for the prosecution who claimed he was too high to properly deliver his testimony.

How long the Young Thug YSL RICO trail will last remains to be seen. Young Thug likely wants the trial to come to an end so he can find out what his future looks like: a free man or locked up. The ramifications of the pending verdict could find it among the most impactful legal cases in hip-hop history. Especially for Thugger himself.

Young Thug Trial Disrupted By Inebriated Witness: “I’m So High Right Now”

Young Thug’s latest YSL Rico trial date was briefly knocked off course by a witness summoned by Georgia state prosecutors.

On Tuesday (March 19) a report from Law And Crime detailed how Adrian Bean, one of the state’s witnesses, claimed he was “too high” in the midst of testifying on the stand. At the time, Bean was being questioned about his recollection of the September 2013 fatal shooting incident that prosecutors allege involved Young Thug.

“Man, umm,” Bean said in part before adding, “Can I get a water or something? I’m so high right now, y’all, I’m about to go to sleep on y’all now. I am.”

This isn’t the first time Bean’s drug use has become a notable topic throughout the trial. In fact, at this point it’s nearly common place. In February, he told prosecutors that his memory of the shooting and subsequent car crash, which resulted in the death of Donovan Thomas Jr., was almost “nonexistent” due to his persistent drug use in 2013.

Bean went on top say he was essentially “addicted” the the drug MDMA, more commonly known as Molly, during that time period and couldn’t recall anything from that point in his life. He also seemingly recanted any memory he had of a meeting with Young Thug’s defense attorney Brian Steel in January, which prompted Steel to accuse Bean of being untruthful. Steel then played a recording of the alleged meeting in which Bean appeared to deny Young Thug’s involvement in the incident.

“I’m not gonna lie on a brother,” Bean says in the recording. “You know what I mean? He wasn’t with us. Young Thug was not in the car with us that day. I don’t even know how his name really got mentioned. Maybe there was a lot of hype in the streets.”
