T.I. is continuing his criminal justice efforts by joining a newly-appointed task force in Atlanta, according XXL. The task force’s duty will be to come up with a new use for the Atlanta City Detention Center.

The task force was announced on Tuesday (July 2), and will also include city activists, council members and criminal justice reform volunteers. The group will thinks of alternative ways to use the Detention Center, which is used to house people who are in violation of minor traffic laws and city ordinances. The groups suggestions will be given to Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms for approval.

The jail has been declining in population since it was built in 1995. “It is a top priority of the Mayor Bottoms to put this underutilized facility to more productive use as a multi-faceted use center for wellness and healing, skills-building, economic mobility, and crime prevention for people, families and communities impacted by the history of over-incarceration,” as stated in a press release about the task force.
