The Christopher Wallace Foundation just announced that the Notorious B.I.G. will be receiving his very own street in Brooklyn.

According to Billboard, the borough will officially change the intersection of Gates Avenue and Fulton Street to Christopher Wallace Way. This news come today in the mist of the rap legend’s 47th birthday.

Last November was when Brooklyn Community Board 2 approved the renaming petition after a 33-1 vote, as reported by Complex. LeRoy McCarthy, the person behind this initiative, emphasized the importance of immortalizing Biggie, as he is known to be one of rap’s biggest cultural icons.

McCarthy previously told Rolling Stone, “Honoring Biggie symbolizes more than just one man. It symbolizes a culture. It symbolizes a borough. It symbolizes a people, and hip-hop is worldwide.”

A public ceremony will be held on June 10 where Biggie’s family, his mother Voletta Wallace and his children will be in attendance. Additionally, BIG’s daughter T’yanna Dream Wallace collaborated with designer/DJ/producer Freeky P on limited edition tee shirts commemorating the 47th birthday of the legend.
