JURAKHAN breaks down the “Persona” (feat. Mingjia)

Emerging rapper/songwriter JURAKHAN makes his entry on our site with this introspective and eclectic record titled “Persona”. From the production style, listeners can tell he strays from the norm and makes use of a jagged and cinematic vibe that is made up of dark textures, and ominous sounds layered over punchy drum grooves. The title refers to his experiences in different spheres of life where he had to follow certain rules and social constraints that suppressed his true persona. From code-switching, being extremely careful of how he speaks to others, and the unnecessary need to be non-threatening. JURAKHAN pours his frustrations on wax and uses the music to lift the weight off his shoulders. He is joined by vocalist Mingjia who adds her ethereal melodic vocals to the track.

Queens,NY born, Long Island-raised emcee JURAKHAN is of Indo-Caribbean descent and has a B.A in Music and Biochemistry at Bowdoin College, he also earned his M.M. in Music Composition at Peabody Conservatory.
