Lil Durk wants his murder-for-hire case thrown out.
Lil Durk Pushes to Have Murder Case Dismissed
On April 18, Lil Durk’s attorneys filed a motion in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California asking the judge to dismiss the indictment against the 32-year-old Chicago rapper, born Durk Banks. According to court documents obtained by XXL on Tuesday (April 22), Durk’s legal team claims the government presented false evidence to the grand jury, including song lyrics.
“The plain language of the superseding indictment makes it apparent that the government told the grand jury that Mr. Banks, through specific lyrics in his music, celebrated and profited from a revenge murder that he had ordered, namely, that of S.R. in August of 2022,” Durk’s attorneys write. “That claim is demonstrably false.”
The song in question, Babyface Ray‘s “Wonderful Wayne & Jackie Boy” featuring Durk, was recorded seven months before the shooting that Durk is accused of masterminding took place, the rapper’s lawyers state.
“For the foregoing reasons, the Court should dismiss the superseding indictment against Mr. Banks,” Durk’s attorneys conclude.

Lil Durk Fighting Serious Case
Lil Durk was arrested last October and accused of hiring five men to murder Quando Rondo in August of 2022 in a shooting that instead took the life of Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a Robinson a.k.a. Lul Pab. Authorities say the shooting was retaliation for Durk’s artist King Von being shot and killed by Quando Rondo associate Timothy Leeks in November of 2020. Durk has pleaded not guilty. The trial was initially scheduled to start on Jan. 7. It has since been pushed back to Oct. 14.
XXL has reached out to Lil Durk’s attorney for comment.
