Welcome to TWIB’s Weekly Top 5 Videos. This is a segment where we will be looking at some exceptional visuals from various acts from around the globe. The music video format has been around for decades and through the 90s and 2000s, it has really taken flight from multi-million budget music videos, to mid to low-budget videos with exceptional features. In this section, we will not discriminate but rather highlight some of the creative visuals that pop up on our radar.

 

 

 

WestWrldSyd – “Havoc”

 

WestWrldSyd opens up the list with “Havoc”, a mid-tempo jam made up of spacey atmospheric textures and moody vibes. The track showcases his smooth and stream-of-consciousness flow laced with a lot of bravado. The visual has a dark and psychedelic aesthetic as well.

 

 

 

 

Borelson – “411” (featuring Omaremii & Moncliche)”

 

Gabonese-Congolese afrofusion artist and rapper BORELSON links up with Nigerian artist-producer Omaremii and Congolese afrobeats musician Moncliche to deliver the infectious new afro-fusion track titled “411”.  Co-produced by Borelson and Timbaland collaborator Glenwoodonly, the summer-ready jam delivers a captivating melting pot of pan-African music sounds, which sees the artists blending afro-infused raps, R&B, and pop in their own unique manner. The visual is bright and engaging with it’s captivating set pieces, dance routines and crisp costumes to boot.

 

 

Alice D – “Nervous”

London,UK artist Alice D shares the visuals for her single “Nervous” which showcases her unique and expressive performance style. The track is a flavor-filled tune that blends lush guitar plucks with pulsating basslines with light Afrocentric percussions to boot. Alice D is more than comfortable over the soothing backdrop as she cascades it with her mellow and sultry melodic runs and evocative songwriting.

 

 

Pawz One x Evolve – “Vaultures”

Pawz One & Evolve drop the music video for “Vaultures”, a track from their latest album titled Random Act of Violence. “Vaultures” is produced by Preed One, video is shot and edited by Mighty Muds.

 

 

 

KSI x Tom Grennan – “Not Over Yet”

KSI and Tom Grennan drop “Not Over Yet” as he prepares for his next bout. Like the title says, it sees him embracing the hurdles and daily struggles he has to face to find true love. Backed by a fiery somber and upbeat backdrop provided by Digital Farm Animals (Dua Lipa, Ellie Goulding Mimi Webb) and Billen Ted (Mae Muller, JC Stewart, Armin van Buuren) and written alongside Sara Boe (Anne-Marie, Birdy, Zara Larsson) and Rick Boardman. KSI delivers a heartfelt performance as the track starts off with  an acoustic symphony before exploding into a fiery drum and bass beat with a soaring singalong chorus which perfectly sums up the ups and downs of a relationship.

The official video – directed by Troy Roscoe (Ed Sheeran, Burna Boy, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Polo G) – begins by reminding fans of KSI’s record-breaking foray into boxing when he fought Logan Paul at a sold-out Staples Centre in 2019 which became the biggest white-collar fight in history. Fused with powerful solo performances from Grennan whose soulful rasp has elevated a succession of high-octane hits over the last two years, including his own Little Bit of Love and Calvin Harris smash By Your Side, the video follows KSI on his Rocky-style montage culminating in a boxing fight against the old version of himself – his own worst enemy. KSI is his own competition, and the final scene marks this departure from his former self: things will be taken care of as he is in the best shape of his life.
