Skee doles out his ‘New Script’
Skee returns with a 6 track body of work titled ‘New Script which sees him in his element as he delivers hard-hitting bars over dark brooding soundscapes. The track starts out with “Ultimatum”, a lyric-dense track ripe with thick distorted bass synths and exotic sound design. This is followed by the brass-stab heavy “Bump” It Out” that sounds like early G-Unit beats. Skee sure holds it down with his vivid lyricism and animated flow. This is followed by “One More”, a rock guitar-infused track that starts off really mellow and brooding and switches up into a rousing piece while Skee proceeds to pour his candid thoughts on wax. On “Complacent”, he changes the vibe with a laidback soundscape and insightful lyrics that showcase his go-getter mentality. On “whose Fault” and “Insanity” he gives two different sides of his persona. The latter is a sombre piano-driven and reflective tune while the former exudes dubstep aesthetics and a whole lot of bravado to match. The final track “New Script” makes use of a classic sample layered over punchy drums and a perfect closer as Skee takes us through his daily struggles and his way of life.
Overall the project is quite cohesive and while it doesn’t dig extremely deep into his life, it sure shows listeners a glimpse or two.
