THE WEEKLY TOP 5 VIDEOS [EPISODE 3]
Welcome to the third edition of TWIB’s Weekly Top 5 Videos. This is a segment where we will be looking at some exceptional visuals from various acts from around the globe. The music video format has been around for decades and through the 90s and 2000s, it has really taken flight from multi-million budget music videos, mid to low-budget videos with exceptional features. In this section, we will not discriminate but rather highlight some of the creative visuals that pop up on our radar.

Anthony OKS – “Fortified Bond” (feat. Begonia)
Anthony OKS opens up this week’s Video list with the visuals for his insightful and love-soaked track entitled “Fortified Bond.” The Canadian rapper delivers a melodic performance ripe with insightful lyrics alongside singer Begonia’s soothing melodic runs. The Jadyn Klassen and Jesse de Rocquigny directed visual is a summery and bright affair that captures the duo’s upbeat disposition.
“Fortified Bond” is taken from Anthony OKS’s forthcoming EP In The Garden.
Ice Meez – Mogul”
Ice Meez is next up with “Mogul” which showcases his go-getter mindset and determination to make it to the apex. The visual captures the rapper in his element as he runs the dark streets and alleys of his hometown Fairfield California with his squad. The uptempo beat and the catchy hook draw us in while the verses deliver a message symbolizing the transition from artist to hip-hop Mogul.
LocalBlac – “Flowers Instead Freestyle”
LocalBlac goes for an entertaining concept for the visual of his song “Flowers Instead Freestyle” which parodies the rap station freestyle. The visual follows LocalBlac doing his thing in a fictional radio station alongside his crew. Over the gritty backdrop, he sure deliver the goods in copious amounts.
A!MS – “Hail”
A!MS‘s visuals for the single “Hail” is a pure cinematic affair that taps into the insightful concept of the song. The visual is directed by Petros Nikolindais who makes use of a gripping story of love, family, and the dynamics of raising kids in tumultuous times. The song is taken from A!MS’s album OFFSHORE lp.
Ash Olsen – “DAT THING LIKE ME”
Norway-raised rapper Ash Olsen gives us a glimpse into her personal life in her new bositerious single “DAT THING LIKE ME.” She makes use of a bouncy and energetic backdrop to showcase vivid and evocative rhymes that deal with her sexuality with a ton of bravado elements to match. The visual is quite expressive and captures Olsen’s distinct style and engaging performance style.

Phenomeinal – “Parcheesi (Radio Quality Freestyle)”
Phenomeinal closes out this week’s list with “Parcheesi (Radio Quality Freestyle)” which is a live radio recording of him performing and showcasing his skill in a live setting. He makes use of a soulful and somewhat solemn backdrop to do this and the result is dope from start to finish.
