Kid Cudi Celebrates “Day N Nite” Diamond Certification By Teasing New Horror Film
Kid Cudi has reached a significant milestone in his illustrious career as his breakthrough single “Day N Nite” has officially been certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The would-be “lonely stoner” anthem, which first gained traction on MySpace, was pivotal in establishing Kid Cudi as a leading voice in Hip-Hop and a pioneer of the genre’s fusion with alternative and electronic elements. In a heartfelt tweet, Kid Cudi shared the exciting news with his fans and took a moment to recognize the gravity of the hit over 15 years after its initial release. In the process, Cudi gave a shout out to his right-hand man, and partner in rhyme, producer Dot Da Genius.
“Just got word that Day n Nite is now Diamond!!!,” Kid Cudi wrote in the tweet. “My 2nd diamond record, the first song me and my brother @DotDaGenius made together that changed our lives and many others forever. This is f##### EPIC. Not to many artist can say they got a diamond record, and I feel truly blessed to be on the list with TWO. To all my fans, young and old, THANK YOU for all your love and support the last 16 years!! ENDLESS MAD LOVE. Scott.”
As Cudi mentioned, this isn’t the first time that he’s celebrated one of his hit songs reaching the coveted feat. His fan-favorite track “Pursuit Of Happiness” featuring MGMT and Ratatat also achieved Diamond certification and has become one of Kid Cudi’s most iconic and enduring songs throughout the years. The fact that both of his diamond hits are from his debut album Man on the Moon: The End of Day is even more of a testament to the impact the project had upon its release in 2009.
“Day N Nite” was the lead single from Kid Cudi’s debut studio album Man on the Moon: The End of Day, which was released in September 2009. The album debuted at number four on the Billboard 200, selling 104,000 copies in its first week. It went on to be certified double platinum by the RIAA, with over 2 million units sold in the United States.
Kid Cudi’s impact on the music industry is undeniable, but it appears as though being considered one of the most influential artists of his era isn’t enough for him. In a follow-up tweet, the “Cudi Zone” hitmaker revealed he had snatched yet another one of his dreams down from the heavens as he announced his excitement for his upcoming lead role in a horror film.
