U.K. Rapper Fredo Performs In Dubai Days After Release From Jail On Drugs Charge
Fredo is back to do what he loves after spending five months in a decrepit Dubai jail after being caught with cannabis.
The U.K. chart-topper performed in Dubai’s Club Blu Tuesday night (March 5), just days after his release. The show was also a double celebration for Fredo, who turned 30 that night.
Fredo resurfaced on Instagram last week for the first time since reports of his conviction. He shared a “fresh home” selfie, before heading to the barbers for a trim.
“Feeling rehabilitated,” he wrote in the caption alongside an angel emoji.
Fredo Dispels Rumors Surrounding Dubai Arrest And Jail Time
In a subsequent Instagram Live, he dismissed rumors he was sentenced to five years behind bars. Fredo also clarified that he ingested the cannabis after realizing he mistakenly traveled with it from the U.K.
“It was a big accident. I would never ever bring weed to Dubai,” he stated. “No five years. I’m home.” Just waiting on CM40 [his friend, rumored to have been arrested alongside Fredo]. Then I’ll be home soon. Mistakes happen. Don’t judge me – it was an accident.”
He continued, “And I never put no weed in my behind as well. I panicked, and I swallowed it. Whoever tried to say I put some weed in my behind, don’t do that. Love lying on me, saying I got five years putting weed in my behind. I would never do nothing like that.
The “Funky Friday” hitmaker insisted he “panicked and swallowed” the cannabis. “I didn’t realize I had it. This is what happens when you smoke. England let me go through it and they caught me over here but I never knew.”
He also urged fans to stay out of trouble in Dubai and warned of conditions behind bars.
“Just don’t go to jail. No toilets – nothing. Hole in the ground. No tissue roll. None of that. It’s crazy.,” he shared. “But it makes you appreciate your life and all the good stuff you’ve got going on.”
