Lupe Fiasco sets it off with “AUTOBOTO”
Award-winning Chicago lyricist Lupe Fiasco is preparing to drop his 8th studio album Drill Music In Zion and in the interim shares the lead single “AUTOBOTO”. The track is produced by his longtime collaborator Soundtrakk who whips up a punchy and menacing beat for Lupe to paint vivid pictures with words. Stretching, twisting, and bending words to Lupe comes naturally as he is busting through the seams with witty wordplay, insightful bars, and a healthy dose of bravado. Lines like “Why buy a tub when they bayou’ll flood?/ Better buy you a sub/ How you gonna survive in the club?/ You gone kayak it cuz when it rise up above?/And the waves come and push and the tidal’s a shove/What’s an infrared dot to a whole dot gov.” Lupe reminds us of the futility of reveling in things that don’t matter in the grand scheme of it all.
The fun doesn’t stop here as he takes it further juxtaposing the street-level mentality with the clandestine establishment activities while inserting some tongue in cheek into the mix. He even throws in a smooth chorus to lift the mood to some degree.
“AUTOBOTO” is the lead single from the forthcoming album Drill Music In Zion which will be released on June 24th via 1st & 15th/Thirty Tigers. Pre-order [Here]
Lupe recently launched his “LFT” program, a new NFT program that allows fans to get closer than ever to Lupe. Unlike many NFTs, which solely exist in the digital space, the “LFT” program offers token-holders an array of online and offline benefits. The benefits start with a generative art profile pic–each LFT holder gets a unique digital artwork inspired by Lupe’s album Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool, which celebrates its 15th birthday this year.
