Moonchild and Rapsody pour their hearts out on “Love I Need”
LA-based trio Moonchild (Amber Navran, Andris Mattson, and Max Bryk) team up with Grammy award-winning rapper Rapsody for this bubbly soulful “Love I Need.” The track is a lively mix of jazz, neo-soul with hip-hop sensibilities. Led by frontwoman Amber Navran, listeners are entranced by her soothing melodic runs and evocative lyrics that dwell into the true essence of love by showing the transition of an independent woman to finding a partner who shows up and offers support. Rapsody is on deck as well and offers her own experiences as a woman being single to finding love.
“Love I Need” is the latest single from Moonchild’s upcoming album Starfruit (out 11th February). The LP is the fifth album from the LA-based trio and it features previous singles “Too Good”, “You Got One feat. Alex Isley and “Tell Him” feat. Lalah Hathaway” alongside forthcoming collaborations from Tank and The Bangas, Ill Camille, Mumu Fresh, Chantae Cann, and Josh Johnson.
Moonchild are a LA-based multi-instrumentalists Amber Navran, Max Bryk, and Andris Mattson. In 2015, they signed to Tru Thoughts and officially released their album ‘Please Rewind’ on the Brighton imprint. This was greeted with an overwhelming response and the album racked up reviews in specialist music magazines: Echoes & Jazz Thing, and radio spins from Gilles Peterson (BBC 6Music), Don Letts (BBC 6Music) and Robert Elms (BBC Radio London). The album’s first single “The Truth” acquired over 2 million Spotify streams, and their second offering “Don’t Wake Me” was featured as KCRW’s ‘Today’s Top Tune’. Last year Moonchild released a DJ Jazzy Jeff & James Poyser remix of “The Truth” ahead of dropping their latest album ‘Voyager’ on 26th May via Tru Thoughts to great acclaim. Last year the band set out on tour across the USA and experienced their first-ever European tour which included a sold-out headline show at the Jazz Café and an electric performance for Boiler Room. “We feel like we progress and get better with each album and we’re really excited to put this out.” Andris enthuses.
