Pittsburgh’s JM the Poet Aims His Bars At All Who Pray For His “Downfall” In New Fight-Style Video
Motivational, energetic, reflective are the three words to describe the soundscapes of South Carolina-born and Pittsburgh, PA-based rapper JM the Poet who dropped a new music video “Downfall“, the third track off of his 2021 release “Insomniac Pack“.
Downfall shouts at doubt with cooly combative rap lyrics that jab at the people trying to stand in the way of success, or those “praying for my downfall.” Since JM’s music is motivated by life – and often tying into his mixed martial arts practice, especially in this video – Downfall aims to kick away obstacles and encourage choosing a higher attitude.
In the video, produced by Roundtable Firm, a choreographed (and somewhat comedic) fight scene shows JM jumping off tables and throwing punches at his opponent. The video for Downfall is both venting and empowering against those who try to stop you. Spoiler: You can try, but you won’t succeed.
His lyrical approach to music shows the effort and thought that he puts into work while still pushing a unique sound.
I make music to vent about life or express something I’ve lived through. My music is a diary at points. At other times, it’s just fun.” – JM says.
