Welcome to TWIB’s Weekly Top 5 Videos. This is a segment where we will be looking at some exceptional visuals from various acts from around the globe. The music video format has been around for decades and through the 90s and 2000s, it has really taken flight from multi-million budget music videos, to mid to low-budget videos with exceptional features. In this section, we will not discriminate but rather highlight some of the creative visuals that pop up on our radar.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Saynave – “Speak the Language”

 

Saynave opens up this week’s list with “Speak the Language” which sees him displaying his versatility with a melodic flow, insightful lyrics, and the usual bravado. The visual is expressive and makes use of engaging motifs. The performance shots and use of DIY-styled shots work well.

 

 

 

TaReef KnockOut – “Small Town (Official Video)”

TaReef KnockOut  shares the visuals for “Small Town,” a heartfelt track that dives into TaReef’s past love, from how they met to losing touch. The visual was filmed by Brandon Waldon on the campus of Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, FL, and captures the rapper’s perforative style. It’s well crafted and gets the job done.

 

 

Tone D. – “Lonely at the top”

 

Tone D‘s “Lonely at the top” is a deep look into survivors’ remorse in his own unique way. Over a solemn backdrop, he takes listeners through his trials and struggles as he tries to find his footing. The visual is a blend of performance shots with smooth moving cut scenes that explore a man’s inner thoughts filled with regrets and a little hope.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dax – “Dear Alcohol”

Dax‘s new release “Dear Alcohol” is a reflective tune that explores the effects of alcoholism and addiction. The production provided by Lex Nour Beats has a somber and reflective feel and works well with Dax’s melodic flow and heartfelt lyrics that talk about using alcohol to drown away the problems of life. The visual by Logan Mei has an interesting feel and displays Dax’s knack for vivid and engaging visuals.

 

 

 

 

Flakko – “I Got Me”

Flakko closes out this week’s list with  “I Got Me,” a mid-tempo guitar-laden track that reflects on loyalty and friendship, and being independent. The visual by Baby  is well-crafted and makes use of a lot of performance shots, stylish cut scenes and moody lighting to capture the mood of the song. The track is taken from  Flakko’s upcoming album Local2  which is set to release this MAY‼️
