Erinem Opens Up In Her New 5-Track EP “Y.B.A.L.A.” (EP Review)

Tyler, Texas based artist Erinem is back since her 2021 album “Gambit”. It’s about time to celebrate things somewhat going back to normal since the pandemic with her new 2022 release, “Y.B.A.L.A.“. This 5-track EP has a totally different vibe and sound to what she has previously released. We would say this project has a mix of high paced energy and emotion, while still keeping true her signature style of unorthodox lyricism and creative storytelling.

“You”, is a song where she makes sure you get to know her with a tongue twisting banger. Following up with that is a surprising collab with Bizarre of D-12. When collabing with a rap veteran like this, male or female, you definitely need to come off your best and we feel she matched up with Bizarre at his best too. Her past catalog has completely zero collabs, so it’s refreshing to see the respect she has for Hip Hop by having a D-12 legend on some of her best work to date.

Skipping to “Listening”, she opens up her soft vocals on this one with the hook showing her true talent as an all around artist while aiming her bars at a significant other who she refuses to get over her. It’s always dope when these type of broken relationships end up fueling the creative fire of an artist. Ending with the highlight of the EP is “Anyway”. She really opens up on this one about not being ashamed in being different, striving in continuing her passion for music even if she doesn’t makes money. Imperfection many times is the formula to success when it comes to this industry.

It’s obvious that Erinem just gave us a preview to what’s to come with this EP. Even though this was a short EP, the beats on this front to back are all dope and cater to her style as a student of lyricism. “You”, and “Anyway” are staying in rotation in our opinion. This project earns a solid 7/10.
