Boots Riley Labels Rick Rubin As Trump-Supporting, Right-Wing Conspiracy Theorist

Rick Rubin established himself as a music industry icon. According to filmmaker Boots Riley, the co-founder of Def Jam Recordings is also a far-right conservative and Donald Trump supporter.

Boots Riley went on social media to call out Rick Rubin for his alleged extreme views. The director of the 2018 film Sorry to Bother You claimed Rubin tries to enlist other celebrities to conspiracy theory-based political movements.

“Now is as good a time as any to tell people that Rick Rubin is a behind-the-scenes rightwinger who tries to recruit music industry folks to Q-anon type stuff and is who (according to Kanye) convinced Kanye to meet Candace Owens and endorse Trump,” Riley tweeted.

Kanye West has openly backed Republican politician Donald Trump. He even referred to the MAGA leader as a father figure. The Vultures 1 album creator also teamed up with right-wing political commentator Candace Owens.

As far as Rick Rubin, the 60-year-old producer of popular tracks for acts like LL Cool J and JAY-Z has reportedly retweeted alt-right figures such as Mike Cernovich in the past. Previously, Talib Kweli alleged Rubin played a part in Kanye West’s endorsement of Trump.

Boots Riley identifies as a communist. The lead vocalist of the Oakland-bred, left-leaning political Hip-Hop band The Coup admitted to joining the Progressive Labor Party at the age of 15. Riley viewed his Sorry to Bother You social satire as an analysis of capitalism.
