Slodown and Dumbfoundead reflect on love triangles on “Me & Mrs. Wong”

NYC-based, Singaporean singer-songwriter Slodown teams up with rapper Dumbfoundead for this laidback collaboration titled “Me & Mrs. Wong.” Bolstered by a moody and somewhat hazy backdrop, Slowdown delivers a chilled and sublime melodic run as he details a love triage between him and a married lady. Dumbfoundead comes through as well with his distinct smooth cadence and evocative lyrics that show his own perspective on the issue. The track is inspired by the classic song “Me & Mrs. Jones” by Billy Paul.

The “Wong Kar-Wai of Soul/R&B” began writing music during his mandatory 2 years in the Singapore military. He has since been making waves in NYC and on streaming platforms, having performed at notable venues such as Studio at Webster Hall and Summerstage. On his 2018 debut EP ‘Nomance,’ producer W.Y. Huang placed Slo’s whispery vocals among the neon lights and cigarette smoke of a drunken Chinatown karaoke session. After ‘Nomance,’ Slo went on to release ‘Skyline/Sunset,’ a 2-track project with Australian producer Tzekin inspired by automobile-themed films like Initial D and Akira. The project was featured on Dazed’s monthly selection and even received a shoutout from Hollywood star Chloe Moretz.

Slo is currently working on his debut album for a late 2020 release.
