Sugar James share 2 track release “The Main Thing”/”This Way”

Christchurch-based deep South-born rapper Sugar James caught our attention with two tracks from his stash. Both tracks showcase the rapper’s retro-fitted style and knack for penning vivid and evocative lyrics over smooth productions that everyone can rock with.

“The Main Thing” is the first cut and is built on a moody and somber boom-bap backdrop. James goes forth to share his frustrations on his personal struggles especially the job he has to keep even though he hates every minute of it. His style is quite engaging and reminds me of early Eminem (Infinite-era).

The b-side is a sublime and soulful track titled “This Way”  and follows Sugar James’ soul-searching adventure in this thing called life. Armed with his malleable flow and graphic storytelling, he shares a tale of an individual who feels he is invisible to everyone else and to some degree under-appreciated so he finds other outlets to get his message across. This is quite honest and relatable too and should appeal to all up and coming.
