The Weeknd Extends His Record For Annual Top 10 Hits

Last week, Future and Metro Boomin unleashed their highly anticipated new album WE DON’T TRUST YOU. After a full year of teasing the project was unsurprisingly a massive commercial success. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, scoring the biggest sales week of 2024 so far. It also debuted its entire tracklist on the Hot 100 including half of the Top 10. “Like That” with Kendrick Lamar stormed into the top spot while “Type Sh*t” with Playboi Carti and Travis Scott turned up at number two.

Debuting at number 9 on the charts was “Young Metro” which features The Weekend. The song is Abel’s 99th to land on the Hot 100, meaning his next entry will be his landmark 100th Hot 100 hit. But arguably even more impressive is the record it helped him extend. He has a top 10 hit on the Hot 100 every single year dating back to 2014, which is the longest active streak. It’s even more impressive that he’s kept that streak up without dropping a new album since Dawn FM hit back in 2022. Check out the full scope of his newest chart achievement below.

The Weekend Hits 11 Years Of Top 10 Hits

Last month, The Weeknd also appeared in the music video for “Young Metro.” Unsurprisingly given the success of the album, the video was also a smash hit. It’s racked up 5.4 million views in just 11 days since it first dropped. The video is also still in the top 20 of YouTube’s trending list for music despite how long it’s been out.

That video came just a month after The Weeknd released the music video for his song “Popular. “ The track features both Playboi Carti and Madonna and featured on The Idol series soundtrack. What do you think of The Weeknd having a top 10 hit every single year dating back to 2014? How long do you think his streak of top 10 hits will last? Let us know in the comment section below.

Future & Metro Boomin Drop “We Don’t Trust You” With Kendrick, Carti, Young Thug, Travis Scott, The Weeknd & More

Future and Metro Boomin have finally delivered the first of their highly anticipated joint offerings, We Don’t Trust You.

The 17-track project arrived at midnight Friday (March 22). It clocks in at just under an hour and features a cast of rap heavyweights, including Playboi Carti, Young Thug, The Weeknd, Travis Scott, Rick Ross and more. Stream We Don’t Trust You at the end of the page.

Kendrick Lamar garnered much of the attention upon release with his verse on “Like That.” He was trending No. 1 on X (formerly) Twitter as fans dissected his apparent Drake and J. Cole diss.

Playboi Carti and Rick Ross were also trending for their appearances on “Type S###,” and “Everyday Hustle,” respectively.

Metro Boomin sampled Mobb Deep’s iconic “Quiet Storm” beat for Future to go crazy on “Seen It All.” The duo also paid homage to Mobb Deep in the We Don’t Trust You trailer earlier this month.

“There’s a lot of f#####’ garbage ass rappers out here, running around,” the late Prodigy says in the clip. “These n##### ain’t supposed to be rapping, son. This game is meant for a select, simple few. A select few, man. And that’s what it is today, man, I don’t give a f###, ain’t nothin’ changed.”

We Don’t Trust You follows Metro Boomin’s Heroes & Villains and Future’s I Never Liked You. Both albums, released in 2022 topped the Billboard 200.

Future and Metro Boomin are set to drop their second project on April 12.

The Weeknd Drops “Popular” Music Video With Madonna & Playboi Carti: Watch

The Weeknd hyped up his HBO show The Idol a lot last year, and while it was by no means perfect, it at least brought us some great music. It’s hard for him to miss in this regard at all, but fans were still shocked when he dropped “Popular” with two very interesting guests as a lead-up to the show. These are rap’s new wave leader Playboi Carti and pop legend Madonna, and fans were bewildered as to how these fusions would come out even if both fit with Abel Tesfaye separately. Regardless of fan expectations, it’s a pop banger, and just a couple of days after its premiere on Fortnite, we now have the official music video for the song on YouTube.

Of course, it’s a very lavish visual treatment that matches well with the shiny cleanliness and pristine production on “Popular.” The Weeknd, Madonna, and Playboi Carti all appear individually at a grand mansion, a high-rise apartment, and a luxury car, respectively. It’s all very clear, crisp, and although simple, it does definitely invoke the aesthetics and mood of the record itself, so it’s a big success in our book. We would’ve loved to have seen the artists interact, though, as XO and Opium have a very strong relationship. Also, it’s wild to think about how the Queen of Pop and King Vamp would match stylistically, both in terms of fashion and general artistry.

Still, this is adding to a heck of a victory lap run for the 34-year-old right now, one that will probably turn into a full album rollout very soon. He recently broke some more Spotify records and teases his next effort in a vague way. Everyone’s looking forward to see how the Canadian superstar wraps up his current trilogy, and his stage moniker as a whole, it seems. But don’t fear: just because he won’t go by The Weeknd anymore doesn’t mean that he won’t stay in the industry as a creative making great art.

Meanwhile, what did you think of this new “Popular” music video? Considering rumors about an upcoming project, are you looking forward to the “Alone Again” artist making new strides in film as a co-writer? Whatever the case may be, drop your thoughts in the comments section down below. Also, stay up to date on HNHH for the latest news and updates on The Weeknd, Madonna, and Playboi Carti.

Kendrick Lamar Calls Drake A “Certified Pedophile” On DJ Mustard-Produced Diss Track “Not Like Us”

Before Drake could even respond to Friday night’s “Meet The Grahams,” Kendrick Lamar has already fired off another diss track aimed at the Toronto rapper. This time, he shared “Not Like Us” on social media, making reference to Baka Not Nice’s past legal trouble while also repeatedly accusing Drake of being a “pedophile.” “Say Drake, I hear you like ’em young / You better not ever go to cell block one,” he raps towards the start of the song.

When Lamar shared the track on Twitter, fans were loving the drama. “We’re witnessing one of the best rap beefs of all time,” one user replied. Another wrote: “This is real hatred, folks. For generations, all haters will be compared to this moment.”

Lamar first dissed Drake on Metro Boomin and Future‘s “Like That,” earlier this year. In the time since, they’ve traded several songs aimed at one another. The drama reached a new level on Friday night after Drake dropped “Family Matters.” In the song, he accused Lamar of being abusive towards his fiance. He also dissed several other artists who have been beefing with him including The Weeknd, Rick Ross, and more. Within an hour, Lamar fired back with “Meet The Grahams.” On that track, he speaks directly to several members of Drake’s family while accusing him of hiding another child. “I’m sorry that your father not active inside your world / He don’t commit to much but his music, yeah, that’s for sure,” Lamar raps.

Here Are Drake’s Most Brutal Disses on ‘Family Matters’

The moment rap fans have been eagerly waiting for likely came much sooner than anticipated. Drake has delivered a seven-minute-long diss, targeting his rap—and rap-adjacent—enemies one by one.

On Friday night (May 3), Drake slid through with a scolding hot response to Kendrick Lamar, Future, Metro Boomin, Rick Ross, The Weeknd and A$AP Rocky on his latest track, “Family Matters.” Drizzy left no stone unturned within the multitude of bars he offered up.

In an Instagram post announcing the arrival of the record, Drake captioned the post, “Stop trying to piece together what I know and go pick up the pieces of your broken home.” As harsh as this may seem, the remorseless lines only worsen as the three-part song goes on.

Some of Drake’s targets are obvious, while others require a bit more thought. Nonetheless, take a look at some of Drake‘s most vicious disses on “Family Matters.”

Drake Gets Ruthless on Kendrick Lamar Diss Track ‘Family Matters’

Drake has responded to Kendrick Lamar‘s diss tracks “Euphoria” and “6:16 in LA” with a ruthless diss of his own titled “Family Matters.” He also goes in on Rick Ross, A$AP Rocky, Future and The Weeknd.

Drake Responds to Kendrick Lamar’s Diss With “Family Matters”

On Friday (May 3), Drake responded to Kendrick Lamar’s recent rounds of diss tracks, “Euphoria” and “6:16 in LA” with “Family Matters.” This marks Drake’s third diss track aimed at K-Dot, following in the footsteps of “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle,” which dropped in April. On Drizzy’s latest response, he clowns Kendrick for the way he raps, the relationship he has with his wife, Whitney and his fatherhood.

Drake Also Targets Rick Ross, The Weeknd and A$AP Rocky on “Family Matters”

When the beat switches, Drake creates a murder scene by going at Rick Ross, The Weeknd and A$AP Rocky. The beat switches once again and Drizzy then redirects his aim back to Kendrick Lamar. He accuses K-Dot of beating his wife among other allegations.

The 6 God’s new diss comes after Kendrick tore into Drizzy for over six minutes straight on “Euphoria” by going in on The Boy’s clothes, music and overall swagger. He insults Drizzy’s “fairytale stories,” biracial background and penchant for sleeping with unworthy women. Kendrick also name-drops Sexyy Red, Drake’s friend Chubbs and Lil Yachty to cut Drake even more. The track arrived on April 30.

K-Dot then continued his relentless attack on Drizzy with “6:16 in LA,” which he dropped three days later on May 3. Throughout the song, Kendrick continued to imply that he knew dark secrets about Drake, and claimed the 6 God had a mole inside his OVO camp.

“Are you finally ready to play have-you-ever? Let’s see/Have you ever thought that OVO was workin’ for me?” Kendrick raps.

Needless to say, Drake had a lot to respond to on “Family Matters.”

Drake Has Been Waiting to Battle Kendrick Lamar

Drake has been incredibly eager to battle Kendrick Lamar, and is very excited his wish is coming true, according to DJ Akademiks. The hip-hop blogger and streamer spoke about his relationship with Drizzy in a sit-down with Adam 22 and Trap Lore Ross on the Off the Record podcast on April 24.

“From what he’s told me, he’s been waiting for this for 10 years,” Ak said. “He’s watched the pattern. He specifically told me, ‘Yo, I’ve watched this guy do the same bait and switch every time. He drops a verse that people are hyped up about, that people are like, ‘Oh, he’s coming at you.’ I’m always ready to defend myself. I’m always ready to engage… and then he goes ghost and nothing happens.'”

Needless to say that didn’t happen, as both Kendrick and Drake are now 10 toes down in this feud.

Drake Unleashes On Kendrick Lamar With “Family Matters” Diss

He didn’t even let Kendrick Lamar have a day. K. Dot dropped the diss “6:16 In L.A.” the morning of May 3, and Drake stole his thunder by dropping his response the same exact day. Not only that, the Toronto superstar dropped a music video too. He uploaded the track “Family Matters” to YouTube with a seven minute video that sees him pick up right where he left off with “Push Ups.” Literally. The beat switch at the end of Drake’s first diss serves as the intro beat on “Family Matters,” and he has a lot to say on it.

The writing was on the wall when Drake started posting messages on his Instagram Story. The rapper posted a clip from The Equalizer 2 in which the main character threatens to kill every one of his ops. He also posted an image of yellow caution tape. THEN DJ Akademiks began hyping up the release of the new song on X (formerly Twitter) and stream calls with Kai Cenat. Well, Drake made good on the hype and gave fans a song that’s even longer than Lamar’s “Euphoria.”

Drake Dropped A Music Video With His Latest Diss

Drake throws shots at The Weeknd, claiming that his music plays in all the spots where “boys got a little more pride,” but Dot is the main target. The title “Family Matters” riffs on the criticisms that Lamar made about his parenting skills. The music video also goes out of its way to upend this claim, with footage of Drake holding his son and walking around his mansion. The rapper ALSO dismisses the fact that K. Dot got a number one with “Like That,” claiming that he only did so because he was talking the 6 God. He even goes as far as to suggest that Lamar should give him the money he got from the song.

Like with every diss that’s been released thus far, the lyrics on “Family Matters” are dense. Drake has a lot to address, both in terms of enemies and the things Lamar said about him in the last week. It’s part of the fun. What we didn’t expect was the music video treatment. Drake has clearly been planning out this rollout for a while. We’re excited to see what this diss spawns next in the battle.

The Most Popular Hip-Hop Songs to Drive To

Come along and ride on a fantastic voyage to the most popular hip-hop songs to drive to. A new study finds J. Cole and The Weeknd to be among the most played tracks while behind the wheel.

Nearly 20,000 Spotify playlists related to driving include 10 songs that occur the most, according to a study conducted by QR Code Generator.

J. Cole’s “No Role Modelz,” from his 2014 Forest Hills Drive album, comes in at No. 2 on the list. The ode to being mindful of idols with the slick chorus of “Don’t save her, she don’t wanna be saved” appears on driving playlists 942 times.

The Weeknd locks in three spots in the top 10 with songs from almost a decade ago and more recent drops in his catalog. His 2015 track, “The Hills,” on the Beauty Behind the Madness album, comes in right after Cole at No. 3. The singer’s After Hours hit “Blinding Lights” lands at No. 6, and is featured on driving playlists 628 times. Then there’s The Weeknd’s Daft Punk collab “Starboy,” a track dedicated to lifestyles of the rich and shameless that closely completes the bottom of the list at No. 9.

While the list of the most popular songs to drive to does not include rap records entirely, there is classic pop and rock material that fans of all genres can add to their on-the-road soundtracks. Rock band The Killers’ “Mr. Brightside” tops the list, singer Noah Kahan’s “Stick Season” earns No. 3 and Tears for Fears’ inimitable hit “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” rounds out the top 5.
