Big O takes us into ‘The Mind’s Mirror’

Hardworking producer Big O shares a 20 track body of work titled The Mind’s Mirror which serves as his 3rd LP and displays his growing skill as an all-around producer. The tracks here are sublime and filled with a variety of elements from jazz, lo-fi, soul, trap, and more.

On “Visionary fantasy” he teams up with Melvin Toussaint and Onisor Rodila for a splendid mix of live guitars, keys, and punchy drums to create a soothing and atmospheric vibe. “LvL Uv Consciousness” has a somber and reflective feel with its sad keys, dreamy sound design, and soft drums. He switches up the vibe on the upbeat “The Functions of a Dream” where he makes use of bouncy drums and an ethereal texture to create a feeling of solemnity and nostalgia. He makes use of a Redman vocal sample and clips from an obscure film on “Facta, Non Verba,” a moody but punchy beat that I can hear emcees spazzing over.

The Mind’s Mirror is the audio dream of a lifetime taking listeners through a diverse Journey of a rich soundscape.
