Jonathan Majors Avoids Jail But Must Complete 52-Week Domestic Violence Program
Jonathan Majors has avoided incarceration following allegations of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari.
The incident, which reportedly occurred in March 2023, led to Majors facing the possibility of up to a year in jail.
However, in a recent ruling, Jonathan Majors was sentenced to probation and mandated to participate in a 52-week domestic violence counseling program.
The circumstances surrounding the incident were contentious.
Jabbari accused Majors of physical assault during an altercation that took place in the backseat of a car. She detailed that Majors hit her on the head with an open hand, twisted her arm behind her back, and fractured one of her fingers.
These allegations led to Majors’ conviction on charges of misdemeanor assault and a harassment violation in Manhattan, New York, in December.
Defending himself against the accusations, Majors, aged 34, portrayed Jabbari, a 31-year-old British dancer, as the instigator of the confrontation.
He argued that Jabbari became aggressive after discovering messages from another woman on his phone, and his actions were in response to her aggression as he attempted to retrieve his cell phone and distance himself from the situation.
Despite the turmoil, Majors was acquitted of an additional charge of assault and aggravated harassment.
However, the repercussions of the conviction were swift, with Marvel Studios severing ties with the actor soon after the guilty verdict was announced.
Jonathan Majors had previously risen to fame with his portrayal of “Kang the Conqueror,” a villain within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He also appeared in films like “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and the Disney+ series “Loki.”
Before his sentencing, there had been an effort by Majors’ legal team to have the conviction overturned.
Nevertheless, these attempts were unsuccessful, with a Manhattan judge ruling against the motion last week.
The sentencing has ended the legal battle, but questions about his future in the entertainment industry remain.
